Healing beyond four-walls

About Rachelle

I grew up in Sydney and relocated to Canberra after finishing University for an Australian Public Service Graduate Program.
For many years, I worked in corporate jobs, both within the public service and private sector. I bought a house, got a dog (and then another dog), travelled the world and built my career. I did all of the things I was 'supposed' to do, but it just didn't quite feel right for me. Corporate roles never quite fit. I was in an unhappy long-term relationship. I was struggling with my mental health.
So, when the opportunity arose to go in a different direction, I took a leap of faith and decided to see what would happen.
That was three years ago. Now a pilates instructor and Australian Counselling Association registered Counsellor, my life looks very different to what it once did and I couldn't be happier. I get to meet beautiful people every day. I get to move my body and spend lots of time in nature.
But there have been hard parts too. Retraining was mentally and financially tough. Working outdoors can be tiring on unforgiving weather days. Separating from my long-term partner was financially and emotionally exhausting. But despite all that, I feel I've made the right choices for me.
Life is all about choices and I want to help you to make the choices that are best for you in your life right now and into the future.
In addition to my Counselling training,
I have lived experience in the following areas that may resonate with you:
Work and Career
I held various roles in the APS over a 10-year period. I have managed staff and understand APS culture, processes and systems. I have also worked for private employers as a consultant on both ACT government and APS projects.
I have been a panel member for a significant number of government recruitment processes and have also worked as a private recruitment consultant.
I have owned and operated small businesses, and have an understanding of the pressures of business set-up government compliance and managing employees.
Mental Health
I have managed anxiety and depression in my own life for over 15 years. I can assist you to implement management strategies and navigate treatment options. I can also empathise with and help you to manage the impact of mental health conditions on your day-to-day life.
I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, so have lived experience managing diagnosed and undiagnosed neurodivergence. I have also worked with both adults and children with ADHD and autism to help them to understand and manage the impact of their neurodivergence in everyday life.
Life, Family and Relationships
I have managed a number of career transitions and understand the pressures of balancing study with life commitments. I'm also familiar with the factors involved in making significant career transition decisions.
I have been through a long-term relationship separation, and understand the emotional, financial and practical implications of divorce or long-term relationship breakdowns.
I have managed interstate relocations, property purchases, rental stress and major family health issues (including cancer treatment and stroke).
